What's in a Lesson?
Lessons are tailored to each learner, covering phonological awareness, phonics, phonetic and non-phonetic spelling and reading, syllable rules, spelling rules, and morphology. Lessons also build on previous learning sessions while introducing new skills and concepts.
What are the Goals of Sessions?
The goals are to improve spelling, reading, vocabulary, comprehension, and fluency, with the aim of enabling learners to apply these skills independently and confidently in any setting.
How is OG/SL Sessions Different from Tutoring?
Whereas tutors do not require particular qualifications, OG Practitioners undergo extensive post-university coursework, a supervised practicum, professional membership, and ongoing professional development to specialize in this remediation approach to learning.
How Long are Sessions?
Lessons are 1:1, individualized, 50 minutes in duration and conducted in person or on-line.
How Long Should I Expect My Child to Attend Sessions?
Two lessons per week are recommended for optimal learning. Sessions generally continue for 6 to 36 months, depending on the learner's needs.
